What an incredible month of May it was! But whatever happened to “April showers bring May flowers,” by the way?
Winter seemed reluctant to let go this year, but summer is finally here, and we’re looking forward to a wonderful month of June. I’m sure our “Sunday Cowboy Greeters” on the Church steps will be happy to welcome some warmer weather as well!
This past month, Pastor Fred wrapped up his sermon series on the Book of Romans, and on May 10, we celebrated Mother’s Day by reflecting on Ruth 1:16:
“Where you go I will go, and where you stay I will stay. Your people will be my people and your God my God.”
Ruth’s declaration to Naomi demonstrates profound loyalty, love, and a covenantal commitment that continues to inspire believers today. Her decision to follow Naomi also reflected her embrace of Naomi’s faith in God and her own desire to seek a relationship with the Almighty.
Finding our identity in Christ can be challenging in such a fast-paced and ever-changing world. Ruth had a mother-in-law who mentored her and provided a godly example to follow. It’s amazing how sometimes it only takes one person—a family member, friend, or neighbour—to ignite something within us and set us on a path toward everlasting life.
Bible Studies
On May 20, our six-week Wednesday Night Potluck and Bible Study concluded in style with what was quite possibly the “Dinner of the Year”!
We wrapped up the study with an inspiring video about our call to service and reflected on the Apostle Paul’s encouragement in Philippians 3:12–14 to “press on” toward the goal and win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Following an incredible weekend away at the Ascent Retreat in Grand River earlier this month, our Belfountain Youth also completed their Boys and Girls Bible Studies.
The boys studied My Heart Christ’s Home by Robert Boyd Munger, while the girls took a deep dive into the book of 2 Timothy.
Thank you to all the parents who brought out their children over the past several weeks!
“Start children off on the way they should go, and even when they are old they will not turn from it.” — Proverbs 22:6
“The Flood”
Our youth room is back in action after the “big melt” resembled a mini Noah-flood!
A huge thank-you to the “Basement Gang” for tackling the cleanup. It was quite the adventure and even exciting. After all, it’s not every day you see people walking into a Church basement wearing waist-high fishing waders!
Serving Our Community
On June 13, Pastor Umune will be visiting us from Nigeria, and we are looking forward to hearing how God has been at work on that side of the world.
Pastor Umune leads one of the missions we support, and we are excited to welcome him back to Belfountain Village Church.
