September – Celebrating God’s Love and Faithfulness
What an incredible month of September it was at Belfountain Village Church!
As the summer sunshine slowly gave way to cooler mornings, changing leaves, and the familiar routines of Fall, September gave us plenty of reasons to reflect, celebrate, and give thanks.
From thought-provoking Sunday messages about love, to Bible studies, fellowship, and a very special milestone in the history of our little village Church, it was a month filled with blessings, laughter, and wonderful reminders of God’s goodness.
Worship Services – The Love Triangle
Throughout September, Pastor Fred took us on a journey exploring one of the most important themes in the entire Bible: Love.
And not just the kind of love we talk about, but the kind we are called to live out every single day!
The sermon series, The Love Triangle, was built around Jesus’ words in Matthew 22:37–39:
“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind… Love your neighbour as yourself.”
Pastor Fred reminded us that our relationship with God and our relationships with others are deeply connected. The closer we grow to God, the more His love should be reflected in the way we treat those around us.
Over the following weeks, we explored what it means to put love into action, how we prioritize the things we love, and ultimately, the incredible power of God’s love.
In 1 Corinthians 16:14, Paul gives us a simple but powerful instruction:
“Do everything in love.”
Just four words, but what a challenge!
It’s easy to show love when life is going smoothly, but what about when things get difficult? When someone disappoints us, when relationships become strained, or when showing love requires patience, forgiveness, or sacrifice?
The series concluded with a beautiful reminder from 1 Peter 4:8 that love covers a multitude of sins, and from Acts 1:8 that God has given us the power of the Holy Spirit to be His witnesses.
We have love. We have power. The question is, are we using them?
What a wonderful reminder that our faith is not simply something we believe, but something we are called to live!
Celebrating 191 Years of Belfountain Village Church!
September 27 was a particularly special day as we celebrated the 191st anniversary of Belfountain Village Church!
Yes, you read that correctly — 191 years!
And what better way to celebrate than with a wonderful Sunday service, music, good food, and fellowship!
We were a packed house as we gathered for the occasion, including visitors and former pastor John Lex. We were blessed with beautiful weather, special music, and a fantastic barbecue.
It was wonderful seeing familiar faces, welcoming visitors, sharing stories, and simply enjoying being together.
A huge thank-you to everyone who helped organize the celebration, prepared food, served, welcomed visitors, and worked behind the scenes to make the day so memorable.
Of course, no proper Church anniversary would be complete without plenty of food and a few good conversations around the barbecue!
Looking back on 191 years is certainly something to be thankful for. Through changing seasons and countless Sunday mornings, Belfountain Village Church has remained a place where people can gather to worship, pray, learn, and enjoy each other’s company.
What a special day, and what a blessing to be part of this community in the heart of Belfountain!
Bible Studies and Growing Together
September also marked the return of our Women’s Bible Study, with the ladies beginning their study of the book of Ezra.
A wonderful opportunity to gather around God’s Word, encourage one another, and grow together in faith.
The book of Ezra reminds us of God’s faithfulness to His people, even through seasons of uncertainty and rebuilding.
We are grateful for everyone who continues to make these opportunities for fellowship and spiritual growth possible.
BVC Youth
With the summer holidays behind us and school routines back in full swing, September marked the beginning of another exciting season for BVC Youth.
There are some wonderful activities planned for the months ahead, including Bible studies, fellowship events, and our upcoming Youth-Led Sunday Service on October 18!
We are looking forward to seeing our young people participate in this special service and share their enthusiasm, talents, and love for Jesus with the congregation.
Thank you to all the parents, volunteers, and leaders who continue to support our youth activities. Your time and commitment are greatly appreciated!
Around the Church – Fall Fellowship
Our Church calendar continues to offer plenty of opportunities to connect, serve, and grow together.
The annual Belfountain Salamander Festival brought another opportunity for our Church to be part of the wider village community earlier this month.
We are also looking forward to our Fall Wednesday Night Potluck and Bible Study — “Discipleship”.
Whether it’s sharing a meal, studying Scripture, serving our community, or simply enjoying a conversation after Sunday service, these moments are part of what makes our Church family so special.
And let’s be honest, a good potluck dinner is always something to look forward to!
A Word of Encouragement – Putting Love into Action
As we reflect on September and Pastor Fred’s messages throughout the month, perhaps one of the greatest lessons we can take with us is that love is more than just a feeling. It requires action.
We live in a busy world, and sometimes it’s easy to become so caught up in our own schedules, responsibilities, and challenges that we overlook the people around us.
But often, the simplest acts of kindness can make the greatest difference.
A phone call to someone who might be lonely. A helping hand to a neighbour. A word of encouragement to someone facing a difficult week. Or simply taking a few extra minutes to listen.
These might seem like small things, but they are wonderful opportunities to reflect the love of Christ.
As 1 John 4:19 reminds us:
“We love because he first loved us.”
May we continue to carry that love into our homes, workplaces, schools, and community, remembering that every day brings another opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life.
